Stock Photography Resources

One of the greatest tools a designer can have is a library of images that enhances their message.  Whether you are creating a brochure, flyer, presentation or webpage, the right image can make or break the design. The list below has been cobbled together from a variety of sources and credit has been given when known.

These sites have different licensing regulations and you will need to check each photo before you use it. Some photos allow you to use images for personal but not commercial use, others require you to credit the photographer/designer when you use the image. It is your responsibility to make sure you are using an image correctly, just because an image appears on the Internet does not mean you have the right to use it.

Wikimedia – Wikimedia Commons is a media file repository making available public domain and freely-licensed educational media content (images, sound and video clips) to everyone. Unlike traditional media repositories, Wikimedia Commons is free. Everyone is allowed to copy, use and modify any files here freely as long as they follow the terms specified by the author; this often means crediting the source and author(s) appropriately and releasing copies/improvements under the same freedom to others. The license conditions of each individual media file can be found on their description page.
